Work for a Living? What’s Wrong With This Picture:
A common consensus these days is that Trump and Trumpism prevailed last November due to the number of ordinary citizens who feel the “promise of America” has failed them and left them behind. Many are angry about it and want to strike back at the system.
One of the founding ideals of the country was that through individual effort, hard work, and diligence, anyone could succeed in attaining a significant level of wealth and security. Yet the reality isn’t matching up to the ideal.
To that point, a December article in Newsweek Magazine reported that in the weeks between the November election and December 12th (date of the article), Elon Musk “… saw his net worth grow by 69 percent from $264 billion on November 6 to $447 billion on December 12, as he prepares to take on a major role in Trump's incoming administration.”
Stop and think about that for a moment. The Social Security Administration reports that the national average annual wage for 2023 was just over $65.000. In contrast, in the single month after the election, Musk’s wealth increased by $183,000,000,000.
In other words, for a few months of “mean-tweeting” about Democrats, hanging out with Trump, and funding a portion of Trump’s campaign, Musk “earned” more money in one month than 2.8 MILLION average workers would earn in an entire year of work.
Yes MAGAs, the system is “rigged”, and something has to change. Unfortunately, the current change will only make things worse.
Yes, you are being ripped-off, but to find who is responsible, turn away from the poor, some of whom have little more than the clothes on their back. Look instead to those at the top of the economic ladder (or as they say: “follow the money”).
